A T-shirt that speaks the language of freedivers

I was on Nusa Penida, diving with manta rays. When I got back on the boat and closed my eyes, everything was still there: the depth, the calm, the silence of thoughts. Just the incredible feeling of having met these majestic beings. Everything inside me slowed down for a moment. Breath. Thoughts. Time.

Then came the sun.

And that moment when I reached into my backpack for a T-shirt. I knew exactly which one I wanted. Not because it was closest. But because it matched the moment.

Soft on skin still slightly salted by the sea. Loose, yet embracing. A T-shirt that doesn’t say “look at me” – it says “I know.” No loud prints. Just clean lines, calm, and simplicity. Maybe it’s the soft cotton that doesn’t stretch out, even after a dive. Maybe it’s the cut – truly unisex, not just pretending to be. Or maybe it’s because it isn’t branded with a random club logo, but carries a quiet design that speaks the language of freedivers.

 

Since then, I wear it on all my journeys. I don’t take it into the water. But after a dive? It’s the first thing I reach for. Because when you’re coming back from the ocean into the world, it helps you hold onto that sea – just a little longer.
